Delivery times
Get new mail a few times a day, at times you choose, instead of one interruption after another.
With delivery times on, new mail in your inbox arrives in batches at the times you pick, for example 09:00, 13:00 and 17:00, instead of all day long. Between those times your inbox stays as it is and you get no notifications for new mail. At each time, everything that waited comes in at once, with one notification.
- Turn it on in Settings, Delivery times, and choose up to 8 times and the days you want mail. On other days, new mail waits for the next delivery day.
- Times are in the time zone of the device you saved them on.
- While mail is waiting, a line above the inbox says how many conversations come in and when. Press Show now to let them in straight away.
- Waiting mail is stored and searchable the moment it arrives, so a search finds it. Nothing is ever lost: switching delivery times off lets everything in at once.
What never waits#
- Sign-in codes and sign-in links, see Smart cards.
- Replies in conversations you wrote in, unless you switch that off in Settings, Delivery times.
- Mail in an inbox tab you marked Comes in straight away, such as one for your team.
Only the inbox waits. Newsletters, receipts and updates in their bundles, the Screener, Spam and mail your rules file away are not held. A mail app connected with an app password, such as Apple Mail, shows new mail when it arrives, with its own notifications.
