Templates

Save messages you write often and put one in with a semicolon and its name, with the recipient's name filled in for you.

On this page

A template is a message you write often, saved once: a follow-up, directions to your office, the answer to a question you get every week. You can keep up to 200.

Making a template#

  1. 1

    Open Settings, Templates

    Press New template.

  2. 2

    Name it

The name is what you type to find it, so a short one works best, such as Follow up.

  3. 3

Add a subject if you want one

It fills the subject of a message that has none yet. A reply keeps its own subject.

  4. 4

Write the message and press Save

Bold, italic, underline and bulleted lists work as they do in a message.

You can also save what you are writing: in the message, press More and choose Save as template, then give it a name. In a reply, only your own words are saved, without the quoted message, and the "Re:" subject is left out.

Using a template#

  • In a message, type ; followed by the start of a template's name, such as ;fol. A list of matching templates opens where you are typing. Use the arrow keys to choose one and Return or Tab to put it in, or press Esc to keep the semicolon and go on typing.
  • Or press Templates at the bottom of the message and pick one from the list.
  • The template goes in where your cursor is. It becomes part of what you are writing, so you can change anything before you send it.

Names filled in for you#

Write any of these in a template, and they are filled in at the moment you put the template in a message:

  • {first name}: the first name of the first person in To.
  • {name}: their full name.
  • {email}: their email address.
  • {my name}: the name you send as.

Add the recipient before you put the template in. When Nemi Mail does not know a name, for example because nobody is in To yet or the address has no name with it, the placeholder stays as you wrote it, so you can see it and fill it in yourself before sending.

Changing and ordering templates#

In Settings, Templates, press Edit to change a template's name, subject or message. The menu beside it moves it up or down, which is the order the list shows them in, or deletes it. A deleted template can be brought back with Undo for a few seconds. Templates are only yours, and their subject and message are stored encrypted, like your drafts.
