Your profile and name
Your display name, your @username, your photo and the public card that carries them, all in Settings, Account.
On this page
Open the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Settings, or press ⌘⇧, (Ctrl Shift , on Windows and Linux). The first tab, Account, holds everything people see about you: your name, your photo, your username and the card those three make.
The display name and the username are two different things, and mixing them up is the most common confusion here. The display name is what collaborators and recipients see next to your edits and on the pages you share. The username is a single, globally unique handle that identifies your account: it appears on your public card, people can share files with you by typing it, and you can sign in with it instead of an email address.

Both open the same file picker.

It is cropped to a circle, so anything important should sit in the middle.

To go back, press Use Google photo
That button appears only once you have uploaded something of your own. It removes your upload and falls back to the picture on your Google account, if you signed in with one.
Claiming a username#
Type it in the Username field and press Save. It is lowercased for you and anything that is not a letter, a digit or a hyphen is dropped as you type. If it is refused, it is either already taken or on the reserved list: names that would collide with a Nemi address, look official, or invite impersonation are not available. A username is not permanent, so you can change it later, at which point your old card link stops working.
Your Nemi card#
Once you have a username, the card next to the profile fields becomes yours. Press Edit to change its pattern, its colour and its title, which all save on their own. The copy button gives you the link, and the download button exports it as a PNG.
The card lives at /card/your-username and is public: anybody with the link can open it, so it is worth knowing exactly what is on it. It shows your username, the generated title and the month you joined. It does not show your email address, your display name, your files or anything else from your account.
Badges, plan and account ID#
Under the profile block sits a row with the month you joined, your current plan and your account ID. The account ID is only needed when you contact support, which is why it is a copy button rather than something you have to read out.
A blue check appears next to your name on the Creator, Pro and Max plans while the subscription is live. A Business account carries a gold one, and members linked to a Business organisation show that organisation's name and logo beside their badge. Badges follow the plan: they appear when it starts and go when it ends.
I changed my name and a colleague still sees the old one.
Names already stamped on past edits and sent share pages do not rewrite themselves. New activity uses the new name.
Can I have two accounts with one address?
No. An email address belongs to one account. If you need your personal address on your work account, add it as a second address under Passkeys, sessions and sign-in security rather than making a second account.
Why can I not use my company name as a username?
Names that look official (support, admin, billing and similar) are reserved, and every username is globally unique, so a name somebody claimed first is gone. Hyphens are allowed, which is usually the way out.
