Notifications and email
Which emails Nemi sends, which of them you can switch off, how to unsubscribe, and the bell in the sidebar.
On this page
Nemi sends two kinds of email and they are treated differently. Account email is part of the service and cannot be switched off: a sign-in code you asked for, an invite somebody sent you, a receipt, a failed payment. Marketing email is everything else, and one link switches all of it off for good.
What arrives, and whether you can stop it#
| Kind | Can you turn it off | |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in code | Account | No. It is only ever sent because you asked for it |
| Workspace or folder invite | Account | No. It is somebody inviting you |
| Files arrived through one of your upload links | Account | Yes, per link: the switch is Email me on upload |
| Comments and decisions on a review round | Account | No, while the share exists |
| Receipts, payment failures, plan changes and cancellations | Account | No |
| Tips, upgrade reminders and offers | Marketing | Yes, unsubscribe in any of them |
Account email goes to your primary address. If it is landing in the wrong inbox, change which of your addresses is primary under Settings, Security, as described in Passkeys, sessions and sign-in security.
Unsubscribing#
- 1
Open any marketing email
Every one of them carries an unsubscribe link and a link to your email preferences.
- 2
Press unsubscribe, or open preferences
Unsubscribe acts immediately. The preferences page is a single checkbox, Marketing emails, that you can switch back on later from the same link.
- 3
Nothing else changes
Account email keeps arriving, because it is how Nemi tells you about your own account.
Notifications inside Nemi#
The bell in the sidebar collects what happened to you rather than what you did: invites waiting for an answer, files that arrived through your upload links, comments other people left on your documents and sheets, approvals and rejections on your shares, files somebody shared with you, and drops into your Beam inbox. It covers the last 14 days, and accepting or declining an invite happens right there.
The bell is a separate thing from email: nothing you do there changes what is sent to your inbox, and nothing in your inbox marks it as read. If you do not have a bell, the notifications centre has not been switched on for your account yet.
When an email does not arrive#
- Check spam first. Sign-in codes and invites are the two that land there most often.
- Check which address you used. Codes are sent to the exact address you typed, not to your primary one.
- Corporate filters sometimes hold mail from a new sender for a few minutes. Wait, then request one more code rather than five.
- For upload links, confirm Email me on upload is on for that specific link. It is off unless you switched it on.
- Still nothing? Email support@nemilab.com with the address you expected it at and roughly when.
