Calendar

Your week

The seven views, how to make and move an event, and the handful of settings worth changing on the first day.

On this page

Calendar opens on the week you are in, with your own Nemi calendars and every calendar you have connected drawn on the same grid. It is yours personally rather than the workspace's, so the sidebar shows your name where the other apps show the workspace switcher, and nobody you share a workspace with sees what is on it.

The views#

ViewKeyWhat it is for
DayDOne column, everything in it.
3 daysXToday and the next two. The default on a narrow screen.
WeekWThe working week, or seven days if you show weekends.
MonthMThe shape of the month rather than the detail of a day.
AgendaAA list, which is the fastest way to read a busy stretch.
YearYTwelve months, for finding a date rather than a time.
ClockCThe day drawn as a dial, so you can see how much of it is left.

Press T to jump back to today and G to jump to a date. The left and right arrow keys move a page at a time, and scrolling sideways or swiping moves a day at a time.

Making an event#

  1. 1

    Drag on the grid

Drag down the column over the hours you want. Double-clicking instead creates one at your default length.

  2. 2

Or press N and type it

The quick add bar reads plain language: Lunch with Jack tomorrow 12:15 for 45m at Ciccos gives you a 45 minute lunch with a place and a guest on it. Anything it does not recognise stays in the title, so it never guesses a wrong time.

  3. 3

    Fill in what matters

The editor opens with the title focused. Everything else is optional, including which calendar it lands in.

  4. 4

    Close it

There is no save button. Closing the editor saves, and a change on a connected calendar is pushed to that provider within seconds.

Settings worth changing once#

Settings sits at the bottom of the sidebar. Most of it is preference, but these four change how the whole app reads.

Time zoneThis device
The same panel holds row height, whether tasks are drawn on the grid, and a second time zone for the gutter.

Time zones#

By default Calendar uses the zone your device is in, so a trip moves your day rather than your events. If you pin a zone in settings instead, every time on screen is in that zone, deliberately, including while you are somewhere else. If times look an hour out, that setting is the first thing to check.

You can also put a second zone in the gutter beside the hours, which is the cheapest way to stop doing arithmetic before a call with another country.

If something is missing#

There is no Calendar in my app launcher.

It has not been switched on for your account yet. Nemi opens apps in stages.

I cannot find a way to switch workspace here.

There is not one. Calendar is bound to you personally, the same way Beam is, so it shows your name instead. See What a workspace is.

Where is the button to find a free hour?

Find a time is rolling out separately. If you do not see it, it has not been switched on for your account yet.

My events are all one hour out.

Check the time zone in settings, then check that the connected account you got them from is on the zone you expect.
