Sharing

Sending a share by email

Let Nemi send the link for you, with your name on it, and know how many emails your plan includes.

On this page

You do not have to copy a link into your own mail client. Type addresses into the field under the share name and the Create link button becomes Create and send: Nemi creates the link and emails it, once per recipient, with your name in the From line.

  1. 1

Type an address and press Enter

Each one becomes a chip. A comma or a space commits it too, and Backspace on an empty field removes the last one.

  2. 2

Or pick somebody from the suggestions

The dropdown offers your own contacts, and on Business the people in your organisation. It is never a directory of everyone on Nemi.

  3. 3

    Press Create and send

The link is created with whatever expiry, access mode and password you set, and then sent.

If sharing by username has been switched on for your account, you can type an @username instead of an address and Nemi resolves it to that person.

Contacts#

Contacts are built as you work: anyone you send a share to, or invite, is saved so you do not have to type the address again. They are private to your account, and they hold an address, a name and a link to the Nemi account when there is one. Nothing about your contacts is visible to the people in them.

What the email looks like#

  • The subject reads like "Merel Bakker shared Campaign delivery via Nemi", using the share name you typed.
  • The From name is yours; the address it is sent from is Nemi's, so replies do not silently disappear into a mailbox nobody reads.
  • The body has the share name, your description if you wrote one, how many files there are with their names, and a button to open the link.
  • If the link expires, the date is in the email, so the recipient knows before they put it off.

How many emails your plan includes#

PlanEmails per month
Free15
Starter75
Creator150
Pro500
MaxUnlimited
BusinessUnlimited

One recipient is one email, so a share sent to four people costs four. The count follows your billing period, not the calendar month.

Invitations sent from an upload link come out of the same allowance. When you run out, the send is refused and the link is still created, so you can copy it and send it yourself.

Knowing whether it landed#

Open the link manager with ⌘⇧L. Each card shows how many emails were sent from that link, how many times the link has been opened, and how many downloads it has handed out, plus a 30 day activity chart. That is server-side counting and it is exact.

Nemi does not email you when somebody opens or downloads a share. If you want to know who read what and for how long, that is Trace, which is switched on per link and off by default. Upload links are the exception: they have their own "Email me when someone uploads" switch, because a file arriving is something you have to act on.

The recipient never got it.

Check their spam folder first, then the address for a typo. The link itself is fine either way: copy it from the link manager and send it another way.

Can I resend to the same person?

Copy the link from the link manager and send it again. Each send counts against your monthly allowance.

Can I stop the emails I have already sent from working?

Delete the link. The email still sits in their inbox, but the link inside it is dead.
