Cancelling and what happens to your files
Cancel in one click. You keep everything until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account becomes free, and the free plan expires files after 30 days.

Cancelling is immediate to arrange and slow to take effect, which is the right way round. Your paid plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for. On that date the account becomes a free account, and the free plan's rules start applying to what is in it.

Get your data out first
This is the step people skip. See the section below before you go any further.

Open Settings, Plan and billing
Press Cancel subscription on your plan card.

Confirm
The card now shows Cancelling, with the date the plan ends. Nothing changes before that date.

Changed your mind?
Press Reactivate on the same card any time before the end date. The subscription carries on as if nothing happened.

Photos in Gallery are not swept by that job, so a library does not empty itself. What does apply is the free plan's photo cap and its 1024 px resolution cap, which bite on new uploads rather than on what is already there.
Getting your data out#
- Files and folders: select them and download. A folder or a multiple selection comes down as a zip, built while it downloads. See Downloading and zips.
- Spreadsheets: export each one, described in Importing and exporting.
- Documents: open each one and export it. The images inside a document are ordinary uploaded files and come down with your files.
- Photos: download from Gallery. Remember these are the compressed versions, because Nemi never keeps the original.
- Vault folders: decrypt and download them while you still have your key. Nobody can recover them for you afterwards.
Refunds#
Cancelling does not refund the period you are in: you keep the plan you paid for until it ends. The exception is the EU and EEA right of withdrawal, which lets a consumer withdraw within 14 days of purchase and get back everything except a proportionate amount for the days used. Cancelling is not the same as closing your account#
A cancelled subscription leaves your account, your files and your links in place on the free plan. If you want everything gone instead, that is a separate action with its own consequences, described in Closing your account.
Do my share links stop working?
Existing links keep working. What changes is what you can set on new ones: 7 days is the longest expiry a free account can choose, and branding is off.
I cancelled by mistake.
Press Reactivate on the plan card. It only works before the end date, after which you sign up again as a new subscription.
I am over 15 GB when it ends. Is something deleted immediately?
No. Nothing is deleted for being over the limit. Uploads are refused, and the 30 day expiry then works through the files by age.
What about a Business organisation?
Cancelling the Business subscription ends the entitlements for every linked account, and the pooled storage goes with it. Tell your team before you do it. See Business and teams.
