What Nemi AI can and cannot do
Everything you can ask the assistant to do in your account, the four things it cannot reach, the things it will not help with, and how it differs from an assistant you connect yourself.

The assistant works with the same things you work with, so the honest summary is that it can do what you can do in the apps below, and nothing else. You never name a tool: you describe what you want and it picks.
What you can ask for#

It makes folders inside the folder you are looking at, and it moves a whole batch of files in one go, so "sort these into folders by month" is a handful of actions rather than one per file. Ask for a folder colour by name: red, orange, amber, yellow, lime, green, teal, cyan, sky, blue, indigo, violet, purple, magenta, pink or rose. |
| Downloading | Hand you a file to save, up to five at a time. Ask it to download something rather than to make you a link: a link is for somebody else. |
| Sharing | Make a share link and give you its address, list the ones you already have, change a link's name, note, expiry or password, and switch one off. |

| Editing images | Change a picture itself and save the result beside the original, which is never touched. An exact size in pixels, where giving both edges crops to fill rather than stretching, a crop to a ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9, a square or round avatar, rotate and mirror, a border or padding, trimming a plain edge away, black and white, brightness, contrast, saturation, a tint, blur and sharpen, a caption or a watermark, a transparent background filled in, and a target such as "under 200 KB", which lowers the quality until the file fits. It saves as JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF or TIFF in the same step, and the same edit can be applied to up to 20 images at once. A HEIC, a RAW or a PSD is converted first. It works on a picture you attach as well, and hands that result back as a download. It counts against the daily conversion allowance, one unit an image, and like converting it starts on Starter. |
| Converting and archives | Convert a file to another format with the same settings the Convert screen offers, such as quality and size, make an archive, and extract one. Ask for a smaller version of a photo and it converts it to its own format at a lower quality, which is what that means. The result is saved next to the file it came from, in that file's own workspace, which is not always the one you are looking at. Ask for a different folder in that workspace and it goes there instead; to get it into a different workspace, ask it to move the result afterwards. |

| Folio | Write and change your public page: the headline, the about text, the contact details, the links, the theme, the order of the sections, and the projects on it. It cannot add pictures or publish the page, which are both yours to do in the editor. |

Everything in this table happens under your own permissions, and an action your role does not allow is refused.
You do not need to reload to see any of it. A folder it makes, a file it moves, a photo it trashes and a document it creates all appear where they belong while you watch, in your window and in the window of anybody else in that workspace.
What it will not help with#
These are not limits of reach, they are things it declines. It says so in one friendly sentence, once, and moves on, which is worth knowing before you spend a message finding out.
- Software code. It does not write, review, explain or debug code, because Nemi is not a coding tool. A spreadsheet formula is not code in this sense: ask for a total, a lookup or a percentage and it will write it.
- Anything unrelated to your account. It is not a general purpose chatbot. An essay, a poem, a homework answer or a translation of something that has nothing to do with your files is not what it is for.
- Legal, medical, financial and tax advice. It points you at somebody qualified instead. It will still work with the files about any of those things.
- Its own instructions. It does not repeat or summarise how it was set up, or which model it runs on.
What it cannot do#
- A calendar that comes from a connected account. Nothing from Google Calendar, Outlook or an ICS subscription is reachable, by any means. It can read and write the calendars you made inside Nemi and no others, so an agenda it reads back to you can be incomplete. See Connecting calendars.
- Anything inside a Vault folder. A vault is encrypted on your device with a key we have never held, so there is nothing there for an assistant to read. See What a vault is.
- Your email address, your password and your billing. It cannot change any of them. Those live in Settings and are yours to change by hand.
- Somebody else's account. It acts as you, so it reaches what you reach and stops where you stop.
- Upload a file for you. It has nothing to upload from. Attach the file with the paperclip in the panel and ask it to save it to your workspace, or drop it into Nemi yourself, and then ask it about that.
- Publish your Folio. It can write every word on the page and take a published one down, but turning a draft into a page strangers can open is the Publish button in the folio editor.
How it differs from an assistant you connect yourself#
Nemi has two AI features and they are not the same thing. Nemi AI is ours and is built in. The AI connection is an assistant you already have, such as one in a chat app of your own, that you authorise to reach your Nemi account. The difference that matters is where your content goes.

You can use both, one, or neither. Nemi AI can do a few things the connection cannot, as the table shows, but both are built on the same list of actions, which is why neither of them can reach a connected calendar account.
