Trash and erasing for good
Any member can trash a photo and any member can bring it back for 30 days. Erasing one for good is limited to the person who added it and the workspace owner.

Deleting a photo puts it in the Gallery trash. It leaves the grid, stays in Trash in the sidebar for 30 days, and is then permanently removed along with everything stored about it. Until that day passes, any member of the workspace can select it and press Restore.
That split is the rule for the whole library: anything reversible is open to everybody in the workspace, and anything permanent is not.

Emptying the trash#
Empty the trash?
Everything in the trash that you uploaded, or all of it if you own the workspace.
Photos other members added. They can empty their own, or the owner can.
So a trash that still shows photos after you emptied it is not a bug. Those belong to somebody else, and either they or the workspace owner can erase them. If you own the workspace, emptying takes everything.
A trashed photo still counts#
What photos do not do#
- They do not expire. The 30 day expiry on free accounts applies to files, not to gallery photos. Your library is kept until you delete it, on every plan, including the free one.
- They do not come back after 30 days. Once the trash sweep has run, the photo, its camera details and the numbers behind photo search are gone, and there is no copy to restore from. We never held your original file either.
- They do not follow a deleted album. Deleting an album leaves every photo in it exactly where it was.
Leaving a shared library#
Closing your Nemi account deletes the photos you uploaded, wherever they are, including out of a workspace you share with colleagues, where they will simply stop being there. Photos other members added into your workspace are theirs and do not go with your account. If a shared library matters to your team, agree who owns what before somebody closes an account. Getting a photo back#

Open Trash in the sidebar
Everything trashed in this library, from any member.

Select what you want back
Shift-click takes a run of them.

Press Restore
It returns to the grid in its place in the timeline, with its albums and its star intact.
If the photo is not in the trash, it was erased for good, or somebody moved it into another workspace library. Check with the other members before assuming the worst: Albums and organising explains what a move does.
