Get started

The command menu

One box for going anywhere, finding anything and doing most things in Nemi, from any app, without the mouse.

On this page

Press ⌘ K on a Mac, or Ctrl K on Windows and Linux, anywhere in Nemi, or press Search and commands near the bottom of the sidebar. A box opens at the top of the screen; type a few letters of what you want and press Enter. The best match is always the first row, so most of the time that is all it takes.

What you can type#

TypeWhat you get
The name of an app, such as cal or mailGoes to that app. Contacts, Folio, Score, Links, Trash, the share page designer and this help centre are here too.
new and a thing, such as new docStarts it: a document, spreadsheet, canvas or form opens straight in its editor; an event opens the calendar's quick add; a meeting starts a call; a room, a message, a folder, an upload link, file and photo uploads and Beam each open where that is done.
Part of a file, folder, document, contact or event nameFinds it across the workspace you are in, and your own contacts and calendar. Events are searched from two months back onwards, nearest to today first.
The name of a setting, such as security, billing or inviteOpens that part of Settings, including the settings of the workspace you are in.
dark, light or themeChanges the theme at once.
The name of another workspaceSwitches to it.
Anything elseWith Nemi AI, the last row asks it your words as a new question.

The app you are in adds its own rows: in Files, upload, share, convert and the files in the folder you are looking at; in Calendar, the views, today, find a time and the rest of its shortcuts; in Mail, every action on the conversation you have open, with its key shown beside it so you learn it as you go. Only apps you can use appear, and a row for something your plan does not include tells you so when you pick it.

Before you type anything, the menu shows the last few things you picked from it, what the app you are in offers, and the things people start most. What you pick often rises to the top the next time you type. That list is kept in your browser on this device only; see Privacy section 8.

Keys#

Move through the results↑↓
Run the highlighted rowEnter
The second thing a row can do. For a place, that is opening it in a new tab⌘Enter
Into the row: its next step, or the list of everything it can do (share, download, copy link and so on). → does this at the end of what you typed, and moves the cursor anywhere elseTabor→
Back out of that list←or⇧Tab
One step back: clears what you typed, then returns to the previous step, then closesEsc
In an empty box, returns to the previous stepBackspace

Some rows lead to a second step, such as choosing a folder. The step you came from stays visible behind the current one, and pressing it takes you back there with what you had typed still in place.

On a phone or tablet#

Open the sidebar and press Search and commands. The menu opens as a panel across the top of the screen with larger rows to tap, and Cancel closes it. With a keyboard attached the keys above work as well.
