Inviting people
Invite by email or with a link, what the other person sees, and why the invite box is missing on Free and Starter.
Inviting is the workspace owner's job and happens in one place: the workspace name at the top of the sidebar, the button beside it, then the Members tab. There are two ways to do it, by email or with a link, and the role you choose is set at the moment of invitation rather than afterwards.
| Plan | People you can add to one workspace |
|---|---|
| Free | None |
| Starter | None |
| Creator | 2 |
| Pro | 3 |
| Max | 5 |
| Business | Unlimited |
The limit is per workspace and is read from the plan of the person who owns it, not from the plan of whoever is being invited. Compare plans at Plans.
Inviting by email#
- 1
Open Manage workspace, Members
The button beside the workspace name at the top of the sidebar.
- 2
Keep the Email tab and type an address
An email address or an @username. They do not need a Nemi account yet: the invitation arrives by email and they can create one when they accept.
- 3
Pick the role, then press Send
Member and Editor can both create and edit. Viewer can see and download and change nothing. Roles are explained in Members and what each role may do.
The invitation then sits under Pending invites until it is accepted. Press the bin beside it to revoke it, which stops the link in the email from working.
Inviting with a link#
Switch the invite box to Link and press Create. This makes one join link you can paste into a chat, useful when you do not know which address somebody uses. Set Max uses to limit how many people may join with it, or leave it blank for no limit. The list shows the uses so far, a copy button, and a bin that revokes it.
What the other person does#
They get the invitation
By email, or as a link you sent them.
They sign in
Any Nemi sign-in works: Google, an email code or a passkey. New people create an account here.
They accept
The invite page has one button. Invitations sent by email also appear under Invites in their sidebar, with Accept and Decline.
They appear under Members
And the workspace shows up in their switcher straight away.
When it does not work#
- "Member limit reached." The owner plan allows fewer members than the workspace already has. Remove somebody, or change plan.
- "User is already a member of this workspace." They are in it. If they cannot see it, they are probably signed in with a different email address; addresses can be joined into one account under Settings, Security, Connected emails.
- No invitation email arrived. Look in spam, then check the address for a typo. You can revoke the invitation and send a link instead, which does not depend on email at all.
- They accepted but see nothing. They are in the workspace and looking at another one. The switcher at the top of their sidebar has both.
- The invite box is missing. You are not the owner of this workspace, or your plan does not include members.
Removing somebody is the bin button on their row under Members, and they lose access immediately. Nothing they made is deleted: see Members and what each role may do for exactly what stays behind.
