Writing together
Several people in one document at once, with cursors, and a record of who wrote which paragraph.

Everybody in the workspace can already open and edit every document in it, so most of the time there is nothing to set up: you send the person the link to the document and they are in. Sharing outside the workspace is covered in Sharing and publishing.
Two people open the document
Their avatars appear in the top right of the editor.
Edits arrive as they happen
Each person gets a coloured caret with their name on it.
Every save stamps the author
Paragraph by paragraph, kept inside the file.
Cursors and who is here#
The avatars beside the save chip are everybody else currently in the document, by profile picture or by their initials in their own colour. In the text you see their carets in the same colour, labelled with their name. Carets only show for people looking at the same page of the document as you, which is why somebody can be present without a visible cursor.
There is no merge step, no checkout and no "locked by" message. Two people typing in the same paragraph both end up with what the other wrote. The only thing that stops an edit is the connection: if the chip says Reconnecting, your work is being held on your device until it returns.
Who wrote which line#
Authorship is stamped as the document saves, paragraph by paragraph. It travels inside the file, so it survives an export, a version restore and a copy of the document. Open the clock icon in the toolbar and switch to the Inspect tab to read it.
History and inspect
Tints each block in the colour of whoever wrote it.
Each person, how many blocks are theirs, and when they last wrote one.
What each person may do#

Comments and suggestions#
Two ways to say something about a document without changing it are being rolled out. Comments are threads on the document that anybody with access can start, reply to and resolve. Suggest mode turns your typing into proposed edits, shown tinted for new text and struck through for text you want removed, which somebody with edit rights then accepts or rejects from the review panel. If you do not see either, it has not been switched on for your account yet.
When it goes wrong#
- Somebody says they cannot type. Check what their link says. A Can view link is read-only by design, and switching it to Can edit takes effect on their next reload.
- Their changes are not arriving. Both of you should look at the save chip. Reconnecting on either side means edits are queued, not lost.
- The document looks doubled. Reload the tab once. If it persists, tell us at support@nemilab.com with the link, because that is a bug worth chasing rather than something to work around.
