Folio

Your address, and who can find it

The link, using your own domain as its home page, and the separate switch for search engines.

On this page

A published folio lives at nemilab.com/folio/ followed by your username, and every project has a page under it. The address comes from your username, so changing that username changes the address and the old one stops working.

There is a shorter form of the same address: nemilab.com/f/ followed by your username sends people to your folio. It is a convenience rather than the real address, so the long one is what to use in a bio or anywhere permanent.

On your own domain#

If your workspace has a custom domain, that hostname can serve your folio as its home page. Go to share.yourname.com and you land on your folio; the links you send from that workspace keep working underneath it.

  • The domain belongs to a workspace, so the folio it shows is the folio of the person who OWNS that workspace. It is never anybody else's.
  • Turn it off with "Use my folio as the home page" in Settings, and the hostname goes back to serving links only.
  • A custom domain never shows a sign-in screen, so the editor stays on nemilab.com.

Search engines#

Publishing and being findable are two decisions, and Nemi keeps them apart. A published folio is a link that works when you send it. Until you turn on "Let search engines find this" in Settings, the page asks search engines not to list it and stays out of our sitemap.

Turn it on and the page becomes listable: your name, headline and the words on the page are what a search engine has to work with, so it is worth writing them for a stranger. It can take a while before anything shows up, and no site can promise a search engine will list a page at all.

Where your folio shows up in Nemi#

When you publish, the share pages for the links you send get a "View folio" button next to your name. Turn Publish off and it disappears with the page.

Can I see how often it is opened?

Settings shows how many times your folio has been opened. Your own visits are not counted, and nothing about individual visitors is recorded.

Can I remove the Nemi mark in the footer?

Yes, in Settings, Footer. Your name and location stay there either way.

What happens to my folio if I close my account?

It is deleted with the account, along with everything on it.
