Folio
Designing your folio
Presets, backgrounds, type, layout and motion, and what happens on a phone.
On this page
Design is a stack of choices in the order people actually make them: start from a preset, then the background, the colours, the type, the layout and finally the motion. Every change shows up in the preview as you make it.
A preset replaces the look and nothing else. Your words, your projects and your media are separate, so pressing one halfway through costs you nothing but the look you had.
Design
What you can change#
| Part | Choices |
|---|---|
| Background | Solid, gradient, mesh, spotlight, dots, grid, noise, or one of your own pictures, with grain over the top |
| Colour | Text, secondary text and an accent, all yours |
| Type | Any Google font for headings and body, plus size, weight, letter spacing and uppercase headings |
| Header | Stack, split, cover, marquee or minimal |
| Work | Grid, masonry, rows, stack or carousel, with your own column count and gap |
| Tiles | Solid, glass, outline or flat, with corner style, radius and shadow |
| Motion | How things arrive, whether they stagger, and what happens on hover |
Sections#
At the bottom of Design, every section can be renamed, switched off and moved. A section with nothing in it does not appear at all, so an empty About is not an empty heading.
On a phone#
The layout folds to one or two columns on smaller screens whatever you chose, and wide tiles become ordinary ones. Use the phone button at the top of the editor to see it.
