Cursors, selections and edits arrive as they happen. There is no merge step and no version anybody has to be told to close.
Who wrote which line
Authorship is stamped per block as it saves, so a document can tell you where a paragraph came from months later. Edits made through the AI connection are marked as such, not passed off as yours.
Go back to any version
Open the history and read the document exactly as it was, not just restore it and hope. How far back it goes depends on the plan. A document is also one real file in your workspace, with its images inside it.

Authorship is stamped per block each time the document saves, and inspect mode tints each paragraph in the colour of whoever wrote it. Moving a paragraph takes its author with it, and an edit made through the AI connection is recorded as the AI rather than as the last person who typed.
Read the document as it was last Tuesday
History keeps the whole document now and then and only the small changes in between, so a day of editing does not turn into a pile of copies. Open a version and read it exactly as it stood that afternoon. You restore it only if you decide you want it back.
It leaves in whatever the other end needs
Word, PDF, Markdown, HTML, plain text, Rich Text and PNG are all in the export menu. Or take the .nemi file, which packs the document's images inside it, so the whole thing opens the same for whoever you send it to.
