Backing up your iPhone photos

Nemi Gallery keeps the photos on your iPhone in your Nemi Gallery library, converted to a much smaller file. New photos follow on their own, and nothing in Photos is changed or deleted.

   Turn on backup

   Nemi Gallery offers it the first time you open it, or go to Settings, then Photo backup.

   Allow access to your photos

   Full access backs up everything; with limited access only the photos you picked are backed up.

   Choose the workspace

   Backup asks which workspace your photos go into and does not start until you have chosen. Looking at another workspace's library never changes it.

A large library#

• The newest photos go first, so what you just took is safe first and older years fill in behind them.
• Several photos are handled at once: some are fetched from iCloud and uploaded while others are converted.
• Tap Back up now and you can leave the app: iOS keeps backup going and shows its progress on the lock screen, with the number done and the time left.
• A big backlog carries on at night while the phone is charging.
• In Low Power Mode, or when the phone is warm, backup slows down on purpose.
• By default backup waits for Wi-Fi. You can change that in Photo backup.

Finding a photo by what is in it#

The search button at the bottom right finds photos by what they show, like "dog on the beach" or "birthday cake". The first time, it downloads the search model once. The model runs on your iPhone: the words you type are never sent, only a list of numbers made from them.
